The Warriors made a blockbuster trade this offseason that stunned the NBA world. They traded away their 24 year old prodigy, Jordan Poole to acquire the 12 time All Star, Chris Paul. The 38 year old brings remarkable playmaking and veteran leadership to Dub Nation. However, he was also Stephen Curry’s fiercest rival throughout his career. Steve Kerr was asked how Stephen Curry and Chris Paul would work together as teammates, given their intense rivalry. Quoting his own experience, Kerr stated that Paul shared similarities with Curry’s biggest inspiration, Reggie Miller.

Reminded me a little bit, you know, when I played Reggie Miller and I played against each other in college….and I used to hate Reggie….and then we became broadcast partners and he became a very good friend,” he said, talking about his relationship with the Knick Killer. “I think that’s how it’s going to be with Chris, we’ve all hated him….and now that’s our guy and we love him.”

During the early 2010s, Curry had just started to breakthrough as a talented point guard in the league. However, by that time, Chris Paul had taken the NBA world by storm with his mastery as a point guard. Playing the same position as Curry, Paul had elevated himself to a Hall of Fame status before Curry could even establish himself as a reputed point guard in the league. However, Curry was never the one to settle.

Curry made heads turn in the mid 2010s, becoming a force to reckon with in no time. He won the the MVP award, back to back in 2015 and 2016 and has never looked back since. Curry’s achievements had eclipsed Paul’s legendary career over the years but Paul too, made a strong case for himself throughout.
