The Golden State Warriors have become one of the most successful franchises in the NBA. In the last 8 years, the Warriors have won the NBA title on four separate occasions in the last eight years. During this unprecedented era of Warriors dominance, Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson, and Draymond Green have established themselves as legends of the game. Steph and Klay, in particular, have captured the imagination of the fans, and their three-pointing shooting prowess has earned them the moniker of “Splash Bros”.

However, times change quickly, and even his fans want Klay to be traded due to his poor form. But, an NBA insider shared his opinion about the trade rumors circulating about Klay Thompson.

Thompson’s recent performances have garnered a lot of ire from fans and analysts alike. With the Warriors not performing to their usual standards, fingers have been pointed toward Klay for his slump in form. This season, Klay has averaged 15.7 points, marking his lowest scoring output since his rookie season. This form has resulted in Klay being involved in a lot of trade rumors, which would have been unfathomable a couple of years ago, given the profound impact that Klay has had on the Warriors.

However, ESPN journalist Zach Lowe has suggested that the Warriors aren’t looking to trade Klay. On his podcast, the Lowe Post, Zach said, “The Warriors do not want to trade Klay Thompson. They have no desire to do it. I would bet heavily against it ever happening.” This comes as reassuring news to many loyal fans who have rooted for Klay despite his current slump in form. Amid the Warriors’ challenges in maintaining consistency this season, there is a collective hope within the organization that Klay will regain his form soon. The sentiment is driven by the recognition that Steph alone cannot lead the team to a championship.

Are the Warriors title contenders?

The Warriors are in a very unfamiliar position. For so long, they have dominated the NBA, winning seven titles in the process. However, they currently occupy the 10th spot in the Western Conference standings, with 9 victories and 10 defeats. The Warriors need to arrest their slump quickly, otherwise, they might never win a title, given the advancing age of their stars.

Stephen Curry has been sensational this season. He has averaged 29.5 points, 5.1 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. But, his supporting cast’s production has fallen off a cliff, with Klay Thompson, Andrew Wiggins, and Kuminga enduring a poor start to the season. The Warriors coaching staff need to find a strategy to return to winning ways and make a push for another title, before the inevitable end of the Warriors dynasty.
