“We’d Have Won a Championship… in Indiana”: Paul George Makes Shocking Claim For the Season After Pacers Faced LeBron James and Co

Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George is one of the elite athletes of the contemporary NBA. Despite the star’s all-round ability on the court, he’s yet to win a Championship. While fans and experts had their own theories for the PG’s ringless journey, 8x NBA All-Star has his own strong claim. He lately opened up about his chance at the title after facing superstar LeBron James and his team.

In the thirteen-season-long career, PG played for three franchises. He began his career with the Indiana Pacers and represented the team for 7 seasons. Notably, during his recent interview with Stephen A. Smith, he claimed that the Pacers under him had the push to win a championship ring.

After facing LeBron James & Co in 2014 Playoff, PG had big dreams

Paul George had his breakout season in 2013-14 when he averaged above 20 points for the first time in his career. Importantly, the team played the Eastern Conference Finals against the Miami Heat and lost to them in the same year. Interestingly, PG brought this up when he appeared on the latest episode of The Stephen A. Smith Show. 

During the show, Smith asked George whether he had ever felt that he would have won a championship if not for his injuries. The Clippers star immediately replied, saying, “Absolutely.” Following that, the 33-year-old star recalled his breakout season and the Conference Finals series against LeBron James and team. He added, “I honestly believe we’d have won a championship, had I been healthy going forward at some point in Indiana.” 

He claimed that he would have championship in the following season, which is the 2014-15 edition. Unfortunately, the star fractured both the tibia and fibula in his right leg during the offseason.

He eventually missed the majority of the season and played only 6 games. Moreover, the Pacers finished in the 9th seed of the Eastern Conference points table. Even though PG’s claim may sound outrageous to some, but King James himself acknowledged his greatness once.

When The King hailed Paul George

During the 2014 Eastern Conference Finals game 3, Paul George dropped a disrespectful dunk on Heat’s Chris Anderson. Following that, LeBron James gave a fitting reply with a 30-feet three-pointer.

Moreover, while heading to his bench, he showed his respects to young PG by slapping his hands. Additionally, after the game, while interacting with the press, James said, “He’s really good, he’s going to be a great one,” reported Indy Star.
