The Golden State Warriors just defeated the Washington Wizards at Chase Center. While most of the arena and the basketball world were expecting redemption at the hands of Jordan Poole, the Warriors’ young guns went on to flourish during the game.

Amid Draymond Green’s suspension, the Warriors tried a new and different lineup. Not only that, but many rookies got multiple minutes on the floor. And Brandin Podziemski talked about the impact he had along with Kuminga’s contributions as well.

Brandin Podziemski talks about changing the narrative

The Golden State Warriors, led by Stephen Curry, defeated the Washington Wizards 129-118. Curry and Klay Thompson led the way for the Warriors, as the team played without their defensive leader on the floor. 

But the Warriors got an amazing outing out of Jonathan Kuminga, who has taken the place of Draymond Green in the starting lineup. Moreover, Golden State also had Brandin Podzeimski play more minutes than usual.

And he surely did not disappoint. After the game, Podzeimski had a word with the media. That is when he said, “The Warriors aren’t used to playing rookies a heavy amount of minutes. I think, me and him, have tried to change that narrative and show that we belong.”

Apart from Kuminga, Podziemski was another player who was in the Warriors’ starting lineup this game. While he may not have a big impact on offense, his efforts could clearly be seen all over the floor.

Podziemski had 10 points, 7 rebounds, 5 assists, and 1 steal for the game. He surely was a lot of help to Curry and Thompson in getting open and easy shots during the game.

Another rookie who proved his worth was Trayce Jackson-Davis. TJD came off the bench and had a double-double for the game, scoring 10 points and nabbing 15 rebounds. Both Podziemski and Jackson-Davis surely are changing the narrative among the Warriors franchise as rookies.

The next generation of Warriors proving their worth

The Golden State Warriors’ young guns shined brightly in this matchup against the Washington Wizards. It is true when Brandin Poziemski said that the Warriors do not play their rookies enough minutes.

But when given the time and chance on the floor, those players made sure to prove their worth. Jonathan Kuminga is now in his third year with the Golden State Warriors and flourishing as a player.

Whereas Jonathan Kuminga came in big on offense. He contributed 22 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists, and 1 steal for the game. A big help to the Splash Brothers’ duo on offense.

Even head coach Steve Kerr had some great words for Kuminga after the game. Let’s see if he can provide the balance that the Warriors need to make another push this season, given their struggles so far.
