The Lakers are leading the Kings with a score of 48-47. But are they all set to win tonight? With the spectacular driving layups and regular free throws witnessed in the amped-up game of D’Angelo Russell, the LeBron James-less team might have a chance to win.

The Lakers registered a win further by the end of the fourth quarter, with the final score of 109-101. Although the team didn’t have the strong play of Anthony Davis and L. James tonight, Scottie Pippin Jr. made his preseason debut.

With 21 points, 8 assists 3 rebounds, and 66% FG, all in just 20 minutes on the court, D’Angelo set a high pedestal for himself in this preseason game.

And now again, with three minutes remaining at the end of the second quarter, the two-point running layup by D. Russell has given the Lakers a four-point lead. But why is Russell still an underrated player??

The 2015 NBA Draft has Returned, D’ Angelo Russell

No doubt Russell has played with a number of teams before he was traded back to the Lakers at last season’s trade deadline. If we ponder over his overall performance in the 17 regular season games of 2022-23, then Dlo has an average of 17.4 points, 2.9 rebounds, and 6.1 assists. Along with this, he has a 48.8% shooting average from the field and 41.4% from 3.

Such a hot start this preseason reflects the training that might have happened full off-season and now in the preseason training camps. Even in the Laker’s last match against Brooklyn Nets, he showed a great game performance with 14 points, 6 assists, and shooting 5- for-8 from the field, along with 4- for -5 from 3.

In a recent interview with Spectrum SportsNet, Austin Reaves, DLo’s mate back in the Nets’ match had some unsettling statements to make. He said- “I think I’ve said it multiple times that I think that preseason, having these games, training camp, all that was going to benefit him [Russell] in a lot of ways.”?

He continued- “You know kindly remind him all the time that there’s probably nobody that can guard him.” With that statement to check, the 2023-24 season is looking like a return for the Lakers star point guard.
