The Memphis Grizzlies tried to get the best of an inconsistent Warriors team. But the Dubs knew how much this win meant for them and they were on top of their game. GSW blew the short-handed Grizzlies out of the water with a dominant 137-116 victory tonight. While the stars of the night were Jonathan Kuminga and Andrew Wiggins, bench leader Chris Paul did not forget to appreciate their latest G League addition, Pat Spencer.
Spencer had created waves with his impeccable skills on-court. Tonight, he made his first NBA bucket and CP3 couldn’t let that go unnoticed as he carried the game ball to present it to the 27-year-old. Although Paul would disagree with you on the fact that it was a basket. He said that it was more like the “first NBA dunk!”

But the game wasn’t without its drama. Memphis looked ready to toss the Warriors out and they almost would have, if it wasn’t for a scuffle between Draymond Green and Desmond Bane, which happened after a block and shove on Santi Aldama earlier. That happened halfway through the second quarter. And it seemed to be the trigger.
With just a few minutes left in the first half, the Dubs charged up, with some help from Kuminga. They suddenly went on a 10-0 run to go into the second half with a comfortable 10-point lead. But the biggest change happened in less than 4 1/2 minutes when the Warriors crew fired off a straight 22-0 run that left the Grizz biting the dust.
Seeing as how the win was secure, Kerr handed over the reins to the bench unit and they got a good run in the fourth quarter. It was during this period that Spencer scored his first career points.
By now, Pat Spencer is a name that regularly pops up when discussing the Warriors. And it’s not simply because of his on-court skills.

Pat Spencer wasn’t always a hooper
Ask anyone who studied in Loyola University between 2016 to 2020 about a basketball player named Pat Spencer, they would probably correct you. More than a hooper, Spencer was known for his lacrosse skills. He excelled at the sport. And he would have gone on to be a top lacrosse player if it wasn’t for his love for basketball.

From being the All-Time assists leader in NCAA to being the recipient of the Tewaraaton Award (Heisman of Lacrosse), Spencer surely had a glorious future laid out with the lacrosse stick. But he decided to pursue basketball nonetheless. In high school, Pat practiced both with ease. But as a final decision, he used his last year of collegiate eligibility to play basketball at Northwestern University.
And now, he has a two-way contract with the Golden State Warriors. It was a long road, but Pat Spencer reached his destination. Now all he needs is to plant his legs on a solid contract.
