Jordan Poole is back and the Warriors can’t stop showering their love on him. He was all geared up at the Chase Center, for the first time since the franchise traded him to the Wizards earlier this year. He was welcomed with arms wide open to the Bay area by ex-teammates and fans. The franchise also presented him with a video tribute right before the game began. Chase Center was filled with a thundering roar of applause from the crowd during the introductions.

GSW guard, Stephen Curry, hugged him during the pregame warm-up session and said this post-game: “Yeah, we all talked about it. We wanted to make sure he got the recognition he deserves for helping us get that championship a couple years ago.” He added, “It’s great to see him. Obviously, we wish him all the best”.

Jordan Poole was once the focal point for the Warriors. He was supposed to step in and take over the dynasty Curry, Thompson, and Green created. He thrived and slowly became a scoring threat during their 2022 championship run, earning a 4-year contract extension as well. But, last season, Poole struggled a lot. He became inconsistent with his points and scores. He quickly became a liability and was ranked 4 in terms of total turnovers (252).

Things turned ugly when Draymond Green punched Poole in the face during a practice session. The Warriors traded Poole to the Washington Wizards for the veteran Chris Paul. But things weren’t all great for Poole there as well. He averaged 17.2 ppg. He was in the news not for his shooting abilities, but for unfortunate mishaps or failed rebounds.

Today, Poole hit his first basket with an 18-foot jumper. He scored 25 points on 7 for 21 shooting. But, at the same time, he also missed his 5 attempts before the next driving layup around 9:39 during the second quarter. Later, he went 0 of 5 from the deep before connecting again.

If murmurs from fans and analysts are to be believed, maybe the GSW made the right call, considering this performance. Poole is struggling this season as well, and after tonight, the same audience that was all praise for Poole was booing him every single time his free throw did not help the Wizards.

Steve Kerr is all about Jordan Poole

The pre-game video tribute made Jordan Poole extremely happy. Even Steve Kerr loved it. He said, “It was wonderful. The video and ovation Jordan got to me was the highlight of the game.” He added, “So well deserved for what he did for our organization and for our fans and players and coaches, just the work that he put in and obviously, becoming a key member of the championship team. Jordan deserved that ovation. It was wonderful to see.”
