The NBA has the best basketball talent in the world. An NBA champion would arguably beat any other team in the world in a 7-game series. But what about one of the best teams ever, the 2016 Golden State Warriors? Or the Cleveland Cavaliers who defeated the 73-9 Dubs in the Finals? Channing Frye and Richard Jefferson who were part of that Cavs team talked about it recently during a podcast appearance on Road Trippin’.

In one instance of the show, the crew talked about the Dallas Mavericks’ announcement about playing against Euro champion Real Madrid in October. As soon as he heard it, Jefferson jokingly took a swipe at Noah Lyles, “For the World Championships!”?He then noted the Mavericks would be laughing stock in the USA if they lose against Real.

Allie Clifton then asked the NBA veterans how would they have reacted if the 2017 Cavaliers played Real Madrid with a young Luka Doncic in the preseason. Both stars stated that they would have loved that. Frye had a hard-hitting question, “Allie, do you think there is a team in the world that could have beat those two teams? I’m even gonna go to the Warriors or us Cavs. You think there was a fucking team in the world?”

Rivalry between the Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers

The Golden State Warriors and the Cleveland Cavaliers were the two best teams in the world during their four straight NBA Final battles. The two iconic teams showed consistent dominance in the league. Even though the Warriors won thrice in the four times the two met, the Cavaliers led by LeBron James were no pushovers.

After the Dubs set the 73-9 regular season record, everyone expected them to win the title. As expected, the Warriors took a 3-1 lead in the Finals. No team has ever come back from a deficit like that in the Finals. Despite the odds being stacked against them, James inspired his team to clinch the title.
