Unlike Michael Jordan, Who Basked in the Glory of ‘The Last Dance’, Humble Stephen Curry Explains “Weird” Feeling of Owning the Spotlight

Stephen Curry’s Underrated has drawn uncanny parallels with Michael Jordan’s The Last Dance. The much-awaited docuseries about the Chicago Bulls‘ glory days came as ray of hope for the NBA world in pandemic. But some players and fans criticized Michael Jordan for overshadowing his teammates in the series. Cut to 2023, Stephen Curry expressed his feeling about anchoring the documentary.

The Underrated documentary focused on the Golden State Warriors superstar’s underdog journey. It goes back and forth from his rookie to rockstar career. Whereas the The Last Dance focused on the Bulls’ two threepeats in the MJ-Phil Jackson era. Despite having narratives about other players, many criticized it for focusing majorly on His Airness.

Amid MJ comparison, Stephen Curry details his documentary

In the last few weeks, Stephen Curry has been busy promoting his latest documentary across various platforms. Notably, he featured in multiple interviews on YouTube discussing the film and taking tough questions. In that line up, he  joined in for an interview which aired recently, along with film’s producer Ryan Coogler, Pete Nicks and Eric Peyton.

During the interview, the 4x NBA Champion discussed about his discomfort being the center piece of the documentary. “That’s weird for me,” he said. “It’s like the focal point of the story, I guess. In the sense to kind of take yourself out of it.” 

The Dub Nation’s mover and shaker further highlighted how the documentary focused on the ‘Underrated’ aspect rather than the superstar himself.

But unlike Curry’s Underrated, MJ’s Last Dance was trashed by his close ally turned nemesis Scottie Pippen.

What did Scottie Pippen tell about the film?

Until the release of the docuseries, the legendary duo remained the best friends. But, after the release, the distance between them kept growing.

Notably, Pippen trashed Jordan after the series’ release. A popular magazine reported that Pippen felt that this series is a propaganda piece to improve Jordan’s image. Moreover, Pippen has also mentioned his discomfort in various occasions.
