The comparison is inevitable. But why does it seem that the buzz around Tyler Herro is much less compared to Tyrese Maxey despite their similar stats and age? Both are just 23 years old, and they have shown great promise for the future. However, there seems to be a disparity.

Tyrese Maxey has been receiving a lot of hype, and rightly so. His performance on the court has been nothing short of impressive. After James Harden left the 76ers, Maxey is touted to be the franchise?s future guard. Tyler Herro, too, has been phenomenal for his team. So what is going wrong with him?

Why Tyler Herro doesn?t get the same hype as Tyrese Maxey?

One reason could be Maxey?s perceived greater playoff success. However, a closer look at their playoff performances reveals no significant difference. At the get-go, Tyler thrived in the 2020 Eastern Conference finals against the Celtics. Herro has played five seasons and has made 41 playoff appearances. Maxey has played 35 playoffs in his four-year career so far. So they are almost head to head on that front.?

Another reason could be the perception that Maxey is more efficient and better on the defensive end. Indeed, Maxey has shown a higher shooting percentage from the field and the 3-point line. But Herro has answered those questions as well.?

Then there?s the matter of Herro?s cockiness, which some might take as arrogance. Like, for instance, he said, ?Nah, I?m already good enough?. After he expressed his desire to reach the level of Luka Doncic and Trae Young. Herro?s confidence is part of his success. It?s what drives him to take those clutch shots and make those big plays.

A look at their stats in this season

Both of the young shooters have crossed the 20+ barrier already. In the last season, both Herro and Maxey averaged 20.7 and 20.3 points per game respectively. This season Maxey has a slight upper edge so far, averaging? 26.2 per game. Tyler, however, is not far behind averaging 25.8 and 5.7 rebounds, doing slightly better defensively than Maxey, who has 5.2 rebounds per game.?

Both of them are eyeing to make it to the NBA All-Star appearance this season. Tyler stayed in the Heat after a stressful summer. Reportedly, the 76ers are planning to sign a max contract if Maxey makes it into the All-Star. As for Herro, he has some stellar performances in the NBA and Eastern Conference Finals to show with the Heat, which many can?t even achieve for their entire career.?
