LeBron James took the Knicks on at their home ground and came out victorious. If anyone thought he would go easy on what could potentially be his next home, they were in for a brutal reality check. The Lakers defeated the Knicks 113-105 tonight.
Attending the game was the Buffalo Bills safety, Damar Hamlin. Not one to turn away from football players, LeBron promptly showed his love, hugging Hamlin on his way to the locker room.

Not just Hamlin, Bron acknowledged other New York greats that were in the building tonight. They included former wide receiver for the New York Giants, Victor Cruz. Also in attendance was Walter “Clyde” Frazier Jr., the Knicks legendary guard that led to the franchise’s only two championships.
Now, before Stephen A. gets ahead of himself with Bron’s latest display of love for New York, it’s not the first time LeBron has acknowledged former players, those from other leagues, and celebrities. But given how the recent narratives are playing out, Smith’s excitement is valid.
But going back to Damar Hamlin and LeBron James, the pair have a history that goes back awhile.
LeBron James and Hamlin have a strong bond built on shared experiences
On January 2, 2023, Hamlin had collapsed on the field mid-game after tackling WR Tee Higgins. Damar stayed unconscious on the ground for 16 minutes, after which he was transported to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center. An on-field cardiac arrest. That was the diagnosis. The entire world prayed for the 25-year-old’s safe recovery.

LeBron was also part of his well-wishers. But the James family’s role on his road to recovery was bigger than a message on X (formerly Twitter). “They’ve been really big and supportive in reaching out to my family as well,” Hamlin said. Since his recovery, Damar has been the biggest advocate of making everyone aware as to the risks, training, measures to take if one has to deal with such an incident.
So, it was natural for him to reach out to the James’ when Bronny faced a similar situation. “I wanted to let him know I’ll be there for whatever he needs on his journey as far as his recovery and getting back to his sport if that’s what he chooses to do,” the Pennsylvani native assured.

The eldest son of LeBron and Savannah James had dropped unconsious during a training session. Luckily, help was at hand and he made a full recovery. Just like Hamlin, Bronny’s family was in complete support of whatever he decided to do. And now, he plays for the USC Trojans, following in his father’s footsteps.
