The Eastern Conference Finals between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics a few months ago was one for the history books. A game 7, non-stop drama, and insane plays from Heat star Jimmy Butler defined the 7-game series. Despite being the favorite, the Celtics fell short to the Heat and one star faced all the flak after the loss. It is Grant Williams, who recently signed a $53 million deal with the Dallas Mavericks.
Recently appearing on a podcast, Luka Doncic‘s new teammate made some startling revelations about his altercation with Butler. Interestingly, Butler’s agent took to social media and dismissed Williams’ claims.

An agent calls out Grant Williams for his comments on Jimmy Butler drama
Jimmy Butler was on an entirely different level during the Eastern Conference Finals series against the Boston Celtics. The Celtics fanbase might have to thank Williams for that.
During Game 2 of the 7-game series, Williams and Butler went at each other. After hitting a three-pointer to increase the Celtics’ lead to 9 points, Williams had some things to say.
This didn’t sit well with Butler, who took it upon himself to lead his team to victory. Months after this altercation, the former Celtics star gave some insights into what happened between the two on the court.
“Jimmy says ‘hell naw he ain’t here,’ so I made a three, and I said ‘hell no, motherf**ker, I’m here! … The next play, Jimmy … boom boom, stop, pivot, and-one, and he says ‘I’m here too, motherf**ker!”, said Williams, according to Sports Illustrated.

Bernard Lee of Threads Sports Management didn’t seem to agree with the Dallas Mavericks star regarding this. Taking to his Twitter, Lee called out Williams. “This didn’t happen haha”, wrote Lee while sharing a snippet of the podcast where the Mavericks star made the Jimmy Butler claims.
Williams had no intention of backing out
While talking about the entire episode, Grant Williams revealed that it was Jimmy Butler who had started provoking him. From that point onwards, there was no backing out. Interestingly, the 2022 NBA finalist revealed that the heavily contested series was missing this kind of drama.

“We were going back and forth because, like me, I’m not backing down. That’s kind of like what we were missing in that series”, said Williams.
The Mavericks star is not the type of player to back down from a fight. In fact, he has even challenged his former teammate, Jayson Tatum, following his move to the Dallas Mavericks. Let’s just hope Williams doesn’t land himself in a Dillon Brooks situation by poking everyone!
