It won’t be the first time that Ayesha Curry, the multi-talented wife of the Warriors‘ Stephen Curry, has taken the limelight. She is now back with her sister-in-law, Sydel Lee-Curry, with their latest venture. In all honesty, this wasn’t a new idea for them. Their wine brand, Domaine Curry, launched in 2018. It was a struggling period for the women. But if we have learned anything from the Curry family is that they never just give up.
It has been a motto that they follow from basketball court to personal life to off-court interests. Five years since the Curry sisters launched their wine brand, it has been acquired by the 5th largest wine company in the USA. Now, they reflect on their journey with the revolutionary business.

In an exclusive interview with Essence, the two talk about what was behind their determined efforts to take the wine business forward. In a family full of powerful men, they wanted to create a legacy to pass on to the women. And also the fact that wine is a white male-dominated industry.
Sydel Lee-Curry says, “This is really an ode to the powerful women in our lives … we aimed to have something that was a legacy-maker for the women that we could pass down to our daughters, our nieces.” The interview goes on to point out something even more interesting. When it comes to wine demographics, Black women take the lead. They appreciate a premium bottle of wine.

With these two powerful women taking a step in the right direction, they also hope it will provide a precedent for others to follow.
It surely is a huge job to take on, especially considering how successful the Curry men are.
