Almost every professional athlete has dreamed of owning their own team. Especially, in the league that they once played in. So far, Michael Jordan has been the only one to accomplish that feat in the NBA. But there have been talks of current players and some legends possibly seeking to own a team through an extension.
Stephen Curry’s trainer had something similar to say in this regard. The $160 million rich Curry, whose net worth will only increase over time, may want to dip his toe into ownership in the future.

Michael Jordan recently parted ways with his share of the Charlotte Hornets. As great of a player as Jordan was, he just did not have the same command as the team’s owner.
As for other players, LeBron James has often voiced his desire to own an NBA team. Especially if the league expands to Las Vegas. Shaquille O’Neal has been on the bus to be an owner as he too has hinted at owning an NBA team in the future.
But Golden State Warriors star point guard Stephen Curry has never displayed any interest or voiced his desire to do so. In fact, his trainer, Brandon Payne recently revealed an insight into Curry.
Payne made an appearance on the 95.7 TheGame radio show. That is where he said, “I personally thought about it. He would be a really good owner and I think that he would enjoy it but it’s nothing we’ve ever discussed.”

Now, it is not necessary that Curry would go on to own a team in the NBA. Many NBA players have big chunks of shares in other leagues like the NFL and more. So, Curry may take a page out of their book.

Should Curry own a team in the future?
Success in a specific sport does not translate to success in the front office as well. As the entire world has seen after MJ drove the Hornets franchise to the ground. But not everyone would want such control and command over the team’s operations.

However, at the same time, where would be the fun in owning a team if you did not have a say in how the team functions or moves forward? Well, for now, Curry has not said anything about owning a team.
If, by the time his career comes to an end, he does indicate any interest, let’s see if he does decide to go through with it.
