Following an explosive start to the game, the Los Angeles Lakers went nonthreatening in the second half against the Brooklyn Nets. With that, the Lakers’ hot and cold run in this season continues. While the experts and pundits put their thinking hats on ahead of the trade deadline, former NBA star Kendrick Perkins also shifted gears with his suggestion after the Nets’ loss.

Following a slump with a three-game losing streak, the LA side came back on top, defeating two dominant teams, namely the Oklahoma City Thunder and Dallas Mavericks. Right when the experts thought that the Purple and gold side was back in the groove, they bit the dust against the 11th seeding Nets.

The LA side has been looking for some trades to strengthen the team, and Kendrick Perkins called for it immediately after the Friday night loss. Amid the rumors of Lakers’ intent on Dejounte Murray and Bruce Brown Jr., Perkins didn’t drop any names but pointed out the ticking clock before it becomes too late for the season.

He wrote, Time for Rob Pelinka to start making those calls!!! You see @AustinRivers25 why I told you the other day why this Lakers team ain’t making no damn noise. Just saying tho…” Rivers, who is currently in free agency, has been sitting alongside Perkins at the ESPN studio, analyzing the games.

The Nets dominated the Lakers in the second half and took home a blowout 130-112 win. While Anthony Davis and LeBron James led the offense with 50 points together, they didn’t receive enough support from their roster. Especially, Reaves, who had a poor day, shooting at 4-12. Following the game, Kendrick Perkins took to his X handle and called for trade.

Perkins seemed to be disappointed with the current Lakers roster and Rivers has a difference of opinion. Let’s find out more about the exchanges that these ESPN experts had on live TV.

Perkins confronted Rivers following his praise for the Lakers

Following the Lakers’ win against the Mavericks, Rivers went on air alongside his fellow ESPN experts and praised the LA side. He said, “I do think they have enough… It’s a matter of them coming together and consistently getting good play.”

However, on the other hand, Perkins wasn’t impressed with his take and hit back at him. Perkins interrupted Rivers mid-sentence and said, “They swept them last year… The Clippers are also better team than them right now,” and asked him, ” You could actually pick them to come out of the West?”

For which Rivers immediately backtracked and agreed to Perkins’ opinion.
