LeBron James turned 39 a few days ago, making him the oldest active player in the NBA. The Akron Hammer dominated the league right out of St. Mary St. Vincent High School and is still very much among the top players in the league. In contrast, Stephen Curry, another elder statesman of the league at 36 years of age, wasn’t destined for greatness due to his small size.

Despite that, he stands shoulder to shoulder with King James in both four NBA championships. However, it turns out that Bron is having the last laugh this year. In a new list, he edges past fellow veteran Steph.

LeBron James surpasses Stephen Curry on an elusive NBA list

In a year-ending list based on basketball performances this season, Hoops Hype created a list of 30 players. In it, LeBron ranks 15th while Steph lags behind at the 21st position as of now. The description of the list reads, “Global Rating is the main metric HoopsHype uses to track the performance of basketball players all around the world.” The list combines players’ and teams’ statistics to rank them according to their productivity on the court. It also factors in the amount of games a player has missed in a certain season or competition.

Bron with 25.4 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 7.4 rebounds has a global rating of 21.39. Meanwhile, Chef Curry with 27.3 points a game, 4.4 rebounds, and 4.6 assists, has a global rating of 19.24. However, this might change as half of the season still remains to be played. For now, The Lakers are ahead of the Golden State Warriors in the West and until things change, King James has secured the dub.

Notably, the other names on the list are also interesting.

Some other players on the list

Giannis Antetokounmpo tops the list with a global rating of 31.21, the top 5 includes the usual suspects like Nikola Jokic, Luka Doncic, and Joel Embiid. Shai Gilgeous Alexander surprises as the second name on the list with a rating of 31.20 just 0.1% less than Greek Freak. This can be attributed to the success of the OKC Thunders in the regular season. They are currently the second seed in the Western Conference.

Unsurprisingly, Tyrese Maxey made it into the list at number six with his reinvented role in the 76ers, and Kevin Durant also edged past LBJ. The rookie phenom Victor Wembanyama isn’t on the list due to the poor performance of the San Antonio Spurs, but Chet Holmgren made it at no 25.
