Chris Paul certainly remains among the top names on the list, as even at the age of 38, he continues to display greatness. Zion Williamson and Co witnessed it first-hand recently as the veteran gave them a Spanish lesson.
Interestingly, the Point God made it happen with just the second unit of the Golden State Warriors. He dictated the happenings from the backcourt as the crowd got to see a glimpse of his masterclass.

In the Warriors’ away game against the New Orleans Pelicans, Paul called for a Spanish pick and roll. It all started with him dribbling past Zion and leading the side from the half-court while dictating the play. Chris then entered the high post through the top of the key before releasing the ball to readjust his position.

He moved beyond the three-point arc to position himself right on the edge but beyond the line. The 2006 ROTY then patiently waited for the pass to come to him while anticipating the direction of it. Soon after getting the basketball in his hands, he faked a pass to his teammate on the wing to distract opponents.
This allowed him a bit more time with the ball as he shot an uncontested three-pointer with ten minutes to go in the first half. The move paid off as the 12x All-Star scored to give his squad a two-point lead with the 29-27 scoreline after that sequence. During his stint with his previous franchise, the Phoenix Suns, the guard used to run this play.

It’s an integral part of the Warriors’ gameplay too, as Chris used his experience to enhance the efficiency of his team. This put forward the reason why the Dubs signed him as he showcased his qualities yet again.
His influence on the Bay Area till now
Expectedly, in each of the Warriors games till now, the seasoned veteran played the role of a facilitator. He is leading the team in assists, further proving his impressive playmaking skills. In the last game, in fact, Paul recorded the most assists for his side while coming off the bench as a sixth man.

The franchise needed a figure such as Chris to guide them in the moments of crisis. In this particular possession, he did precisely that as the visitors dominated. Thus, till now, it’s fair to say that the gamble from the team is paying off.
