The Golden State Warriors’ returned back to winning ways after blowing last night’s matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers. They survived a fourth-quarter surge from the Utah Jazz, winning by a fine margin of three points. Klay Thompson, in his first time coming off the bench since 2012 rediscovered his shot and led the way with 35 points. Locker room leader Draymond Green dialed up his aggression, scoring a season-high 23 points.

The Warriors’ core tandem proved to be pivotal on a night Stephen Curry only managed 16. The Warriors rode off a massive 16-point swing in the second quarter and led by 18 to start the fourth. However, the pair of Lauri Markannen and Colin Sexton ignited a 13-2 run for the Jazz, almost leading to the Warriors blowing another double-digit lead.

Thankfully, a critical late-game turnover from John Collins allowed Curry to close the game at the free-throw line. After the game, rookie Brandon Podziemski, who replaced Thompson in the starting lineup dropped major praise on Green, who had a fantastic night as a scorer.

Draymond Green needs to shoot more for the Warriors

The Warriors are feared for their three-point shooting since they berth into a championship in 2015. A huge part of it came because of their expertise aside from the Splash Brother duo. In particular, Green has always been a consistent three-point shooter over his career. This season, he is hitting 40% of his takes from downtown.

Tonight, his three triples proved decisive for the Warriors who won 127-130. Podziemski joined the post-game show where an interesting stat was revealed. Every time Dray has hit two or more threes in a game the Warriors have an astonishing record of 131-28 after tonight’s game. The announcer claimed Green needs to ‘let them fly’ more often.

Apparently, Podziemski has been saying the same thing to Green.

“I tell him every game they are going to disrespect you and not guard you. Just let it fly and you know even if he shoots 3 for 6 or 3 for 7, we will take those percentages all day because those are crucial buckets. And when they start playing up on him, Steph and Klay get open, and Jonathan and Andrew fall to help. Me and Gary just clean up the dirty work. You know, just tell him let it fly every game,” said the rookie.

Ardent NBA fans identify how impactful Green’s presence is on the floor. He can play variable roles. A floor general, a versatile defender, and when needed, a scorer. Tonight he allowed that version of himself to shine. Draymond Green didn’t hesitate to take his shots. When he is confident, the Warriors thrive off him. If Klay Thompson starts hitting his shots too, then the Bay becomes nearly unguardable.
