The Philadelphia 76ers suffered a minor setback on Wednesday after losing against their rivals, the Boston Celtics. Jayson Tatum and Co. humiliated the Sixers at home with an incredible team performance and took the number 1 spot in the Eastern Conference standings. Tatum led the game in scoring with 29 points. Meanwhile, the reigning MVP, Joel Embiid, was nowhere to be found. He had his worst scoring performance of this season, scoring only 20 points in the loss.

The loss against the Celtics has shown that the Sixers might need another star to get them over the hump. Even though 2-time All-Star Zach LaVine is available in the trade market, a veteran analyst denied the possibility of him moving to Philadelphia and made a bold prediction for Joel Embiid and Co.

Veteran analyst Brian Windhorst talked about how the 76ers can improve their roster and make a run for the title, ?I wouldn?t expect the Sixers to have one or even two deals in place by mid to late January, early February where they augment what they have.? According to Windy, Philadelphia needs another playmaker, and they do not necessarily need to pursue Zach LaVine, as he is more of a scorer than a playmaker. ?They don?t need another star. They have Tyrese Maxey, but they need to give him some help.? the veteran analyst added.

Philadelphia has finally unlocked the true potential of 23-year-old guard Tyrese Maxey. He has been sensational since this season, averaging a career-high 27.6 points for the Sixers. Maxey has not let the departure of James Harden negatively affect the 76ers? performance on the court. He has proven in a short span that he can be the next superstar for Philadelphia, and play alongside Joel Embiid to make a run for the title.

Even though Philly might not need another star on their roster, they need more depth. The loss against Jayson Tatum and Co. exposed the 76ers and their need for a more reliable supporting cast. Four out of the six bench players went scoreless in the game, which affected the outcome of the match. Meanwhile, every player on the Celtics roster who played in the game put up some points on the board.

They currently have the second-best record in the Eastern Conference, and if they make the right moves, Joel Embiid and Co. have the potential to win the Championship this season.
