The “L” Train’s better half, Savannah James began her speech by highlighting the confidence instilled in her by her mother, which she felt resonated throughout the room filled with inspiring women like Tems, the 2024 honoree.

Beyond the awards and collaborations,” James continued, “it all comes back to that voice: rich, resonant, undeniable. Pair that with her effortless confidence, style and flow and you’ve got someone who’s gonna be here for a really long time. Congratulations to Tems on being honored with the Billboard Women in Music Breakthrough award.

The James family frequently finds itself in the headlines. With LeBron James becoming the first player to ever score 40,000 points, the James clan is understandably proud. While “King James” made history on the court, his entire family cheered him on from the sidelines.

The Savannah & LeBron Love Story

In a 2010 interview, Savannah shared her heartwarming love story with LeBron James that began way back in their teens in Akron, Ohio. Their paths crossed while she was a sophomore at a different school. Though LeBron, a year older, initially sought her number through a friend, Savannah playfully took charge and got his number instead. As fate would have it, she decided to take a chance (out of boredom as per her), initiating contact.

Savannah knew this connection was special early on. She further shared a sweet anecdote about forgetting leftovers in LeBron’s car. His thoughtful act of returning them, she believes, was just an excuse to see her again and the rest was history!

Beyond their strong bond, Savannah is a passionate philanthropist. In 2017, she launched “Women of Our Future,” a mentorship program offering guidance and support to young Akron girls. Her dedication extends to public speaking engagements, like the “For Women, Forever” event and the YWCA of Greater Cleveland fundraiser, both in 2018.

Savannah has spearheaded the annual “I PROM-ise Makeover,” since 2013, ensuring Akron students have access to free prom attire and accessories. Despite her preference for privacy, she recognizes the importance of giving back and embraces these opportunities to make a positive impact. “I’m still a very private person,” she stated. “But these things reflect the passion that I have as far as giving back, the philanthropic part of me. So with those things, I don’t mind stepping out.
