The Golden State Warriors have made major changes this summer, dealing for Jordan Poole and re-signing Draymond Green to a new four-year, $100 million deal. While Chris Paul joined the Warriors, Poole ended up at Capital One Arena with the Washington Wizards. This made fans claim bizarre theories about the player. And despite the passage of time, Green still bears the weight of the training camp punch incident.

Controversies often surround the 4x NBA champion. And, while he’s widely known for his on-court aggression, his off-court actions have only made the case stronger.

On the latest episode of former Los Angeles Lakers player Patrick Beverley’s podcast, Green opened up once again about the incident. He reveals that it wasn’t a spontaneous outburst but something that happened in a team and between the teammates. A brief clip from the video went viral on Twitter, which was originally posted by Beverley’s podcast Twitter account.

The video showed Green saying, I don?t just hit people. Dialogue, of course, happens over time and you ain?t just triggered by something like that fast. You know what I?m saying, this is a team. Ain?t nobody on my team, triggering me in an instant. We know stuff that you don?t say among men. We know things that you have to stand on,? said Green on the Pat Bev podcast.

The most unexpected thing happened when the clip got an unforeseen response from Jordan Poole’s father, Anthony Poole. ?I?m stand on this that?s is some bs,? Anthony Poole replied. ?Jp was his guy and he avoid me all last yr. He is a soft a** b**** and I?m standing on this and he didn?t apologize to me and my wife. So he came and me and can meet anytime he wants.??This sounded like Anthony is taking matters into his own hands.

However, Draymond Green is someone who isn’t afraid of any controversies. He jumped right into Anthony’s comments, and tweeted, “That?s so cute? it?s impossible to avoid you an arena for a year champ. I got get my family from that family room every game. And stop using those words, they usually don?t go over well amongst men.”

One incident, a huge domino effect

The aftereffects of Green punching Jordan Poole ruined Warriors’ chances of defending their championship in the 2022?2023 NBA season. Early in October, reports of the incident started to surface with supporting accompanying video evidence. This increased the overall scrutiny the team faced.

Stephen Curry and the team, who had a 44-38 record and earned the No. 6 seed in the fiercely contested Western Conference, had a difficult time finding their groove throughout the course of the season.

The controversy followed them into the NBA Playoffs too. Their postseason run came to an unexpected end in the second round at the hands of the Los Angeles Lakers. Seeing his son getting traded away from the Warriors, Jordan Poole’s father came in support to fight for his son.

Nobody knows how long will this go! But the Warriors and fans would hope that Green can now channel his focus solely on the court as they aim to reclaim their championship form in the upcoming NBA season.
