The All-Star 2024 Weekend is going to witness history as the 3-pointer contest is between an NBA and a WNBA athlete. Stephen Curry, the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader, and Sabrina Ionescu, the WNBA’s single-season 3-point record holder, are preparing for the first-ever “Stephen vs. Sabrina” 3-Point Challenge on State Farm All-Star Saturday Night on February 17th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.

And as a part of this historic occasion, the NBA and WNBA will donate to Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play. foundation and Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation, respectively. However, the excitement doesn’t end there. Because with each successful shot made by Curry and Ionescu, State Farm will make a generous contribution to the NBA Foundation, which supports the economic development in the Black community. $1000 will be donated for every 3-pointer made, $2000 will be donated for every Moneyball made and $3000 will be donated for every Starry range ball made.

“Stephen vs. Sabrina” will follow the regular 3-Point Contest rules, with Curry shooting from the NBA 3-point line and Ionescu shooting from the WNBA 3-point line. There will be 5 ball racks in total, with 4 racks having 4 game balls and one money ball. The fifth rack will only contain money balls for which the players will have the liberty to choose the placement. However, including this, each player will have two starry-range shots. These shot racks are kept about 30 feet away from the basket due to which it holds the value of 3 points per shot.

This historic clash between Stephen vs Sabrina started when Sabrina won her debut 3-point contest and broke the WNBA and NBA single-round event records. Looking at that, the 4x NBA Champion challenged the 26-year-old guard, and she accepted it, laying the groundwork for this clash. But do the two athletes even have comparable records to go up against each other?

Who has a better 3-point record between Curry and Ionescu?

Stephen Cury is a 2x NBA 3-point contest champion and also holds the league record of making 31 out of his 40 shots during the 2021 contest. Not only that, his career’s long-range shooting percentage is 42.6% which cements his status as one of the greatest shooters in the NBA ever. Ionescu, on the other hand, made history in the WNBA last summer by creating a record with 37 points during the All-Star weekend. However, despite her outstanding performance, comparing lifetime statistics indicates Curry’s domination. He has redefined the sport of basketball with 3,562 three-pointers made in 8,348 tries.

Not only that, the 35-year-old superstar is on track toward becoming the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 three-pointers before he retires. However, even Ionescu has demonstrated her abilities with a career 37.7% three-point shooting average in four WNBA seasons and has maintained a shooting percentage above .400 throughout her career. Owing to all this, fans are eagerly waiting to witness the Stephen vs. Sabrina showdown. Who do you think will win? Let us know in the comments below.
