Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson have been inseparable for the last 12 years. However, that did not stop Klay from making his honest pick for the first-of-its-kind NBA vs. WNBA 3-point contest. This All-Star Weekend, the NBA’s all-time 3-point leader Stephen Curry will go against WNBA single-season 3-point record holder Sabrina Ionescu in an attempt to settle the debate over the greatest 3-point shooter out there. For Klay Thompson, though, it is Sabrina.

In a recent interview, he said, “I got the Bay Area’s finest Sabrina all day. Since she set the record last year, I think she missed one.”

Notably, Ionescu set the highest record for both the NBA and WNBA when she racked up 37 points out of a possible 40 in the Final Round of the WNBA 3-Point Contest last year. And when asked if she is better than Steph, he doubled down with, “Yeah, oh yeah, all day.”

Ionescu, in the process, also broke Steph’s highest score of 31 in the 3-point contest, which is what set the stage for this showdown. However, the two won’t just be defending their titles; they will also be playing for their respective charities. Curry’s Eat.Learn.Play and Ionescu’s SI20 Foundation will receive donations from the NBA and WNBA.

Moreover, each shot made by the two stars will trigger additional donations from the State Farm to the NBA Foundation to support economic empowerment in the Black community. A regular three-pointer will fetch $1000, the money ball is supposed to bring in $2000 and the “STARRY Range Ball” – which is 29 feet, nine inches away from the basket- is valued at $3000.

Klay Thompson isn’t the only one who has made his predictions; let’s take a look at what other stars have to say.

Steph vs. Sabrina: 2-2

While Klay ditched Steph for Sabrina, Draymond Green stood by his “GOAT” on this one. The Warriors forward opined, “I got Steph, the greatest ever for a reason.” Draymond also praised Sabrina for her accomplishments, saying “Obviously, Sabrina is doing what she is doing, we all saw the 3-point contest last year where you broke all the records so it is definitely something to be excited about.” However, he made it clear that he’s rooting for Steph, affirming, “But ofcourse, Steph is winning.”

On the other hand, Dallas Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving did not mince his words as he picked the New York Liberty star over Steph. He backed up his choice with the reasoning that odds are against Steph since Sabrina is coming to defend her title and Steph is the challenger in this case. He said, “I’m pulling for Sabrina. No disrespect to you, Steph. I love you big bro, but at the same time, she got the record. She’s coming to defend her title. You’re (Steph) coming to the competitive table to see if you can win. It’s going to be interesting.”

Another star to make his pick was Kevin Durant, but not without some back and forth first. KD first chose Steph over Sabrina, but quickly took a step back when Steph called him an “instigator.” However, he gave his final verdict in an Instagram reel shared by the NBA, “I’m going Steph. I said Steph first, then Steph kinda like disrespectfully called me an instigator so I went to Sabrina, but I’m gonna go back to Steph.”
