His unparalleled shooting ability has earned him several accolades over the years, also helping the Golden State Warriors win 4 championships with him at the helm. Dell Curry had a tenured career in the NBA. He played for 5 teams but his most significant time was the Charlotte Hornets. He was a force off the bench for the Hornets, making them regular playoff contenders back in the 1990s.

Curry Sr. also won the Sixth Man of the Year award in 1994 for his extraordinary efforts off the bench. Stephen Curry however, chose not to follow his father’s legacy when he opted to go to Davidson.

In a recent interview, Curry talked about his choice to go to Davidson. “The brand of basketball that I play now, was predicated on a system that Davidson college and Bob McKillop mastered,” he said.

Talking about colleges like Duke or Virginia Tech, Curry added, “Having gone to Tech or Duke whatever, I’d rather be benched my freshman year and I don’t get that experience, I don’t know if I’d be the same player.”

Furthermore, Curry stated, “It’s kind of a message to go where the best fit is for you….myself, Damian Lillard, Ja Morant, players who went to major colleges, they’ll find you wherever you’re at. I would rather play than sit on the bench and say I got a Power Conference school on my chest.
