In an interview with BBALLBREAKDOWN, Steve Kerr revealed that back in the day, the Phoenix Suns did think about drafting Stephen Curry, who has played with the Golden State Warriors throughout his nine-year career. He not only spoke about thinking about trading but also compared him to one of the greatest NBA players in their team. The host asked whether aspects like being too slow or too short ever resonated with them when it came to evaluating drafting Stephen Curry.
He said, “It was a concern, but not that big a concern not to draft him after we traded up. We weren’t able to, but I mean, he was so much like Steve Nash, I mean, we had seen the likes of Mike D’Antoni come in and change the way the NBA was played. The Suns were kind of at the forefront of that, so it was easier to see Steph stepping into a role where he could be a shot creator, shot maker, like Nash. Because neither guy blew you away with the speed and bounce, but it was a balance and the coordination that was so breathtaking.”
Steve Nash is one of the most prominent NBA personalities and has had a stellar career, complete with being judged the NBA MVP twice in his career. He was also a seven-time All-NBA selection.

The NBA paths of Steve Nash and Stephen Curry
Stephen Curry has had a nine-year NBA career and has never played for any team apart from the Golden State Warriors. Steph has had a long history with the team, and his coordination with Klay Thompson on the team has earned them the moniker ‘Splash Brothers’. Like Nash, Curry too started playing basketball during his college years.
Curry has earlier said that the NBA players he has shaped his career on are Steve Nash and Reggie Miller. In fact, Stephen’s 3-pointer percentage is very close to Nash’s, hovering at 44.63, while Nash was at 45.50.
