About three days ago, Stephen A. Smith had once again targeted Zion Williamson of the Pelicans for his weight and eating habits. The Duke product has been under Smith’s scrutiny since his draft. But he had said on multiple occasions that it comes from a place of “concern”. And that he genuinely wanted him to succeed.
Yet, this time, Stephen A.’s comments hit the wrong nerve. And the Pelicans’ social media team hit back with a troll video that detailed his basketball career during his time at Winston-Salem. Suffice it to say that it wasn’t flattering. That was more than enough for the ESPN analyst to make the New Orleans Pelicans his target on the Stephen A. Smith Show.
In the below clip, Stephen A. holds nothing back as he details fact after fact while questioning New Orleans’s authority to poke fun at his career.

He calls out the franchise for their lack of rings and conference titles in 22 years. Smith also brings attention to the fact that their playoff wins throughout these years are just two. So, instead of focusing on creating troll videos, he advises the organization to prioritize winning.
The video, for its part, showcased a voiceover of the man himself with the caption, “flock it, Stephen A. Smith highlights.” The content was a mix of Smith’s unflattering clips ranging from baseball, air balls, a practice boxing session, and his college stat sheet.

The First Take commentator, though, takes special care to clarify his stat. The points per game he averaged in the 1990-91 year read 1.5 while his assists were at 1. Stephen A. says confidently that had he not broken his kneecap, he could have easily landed 20-25 points. It seems like it was a sore subject for the 56-year-old.
But the Pelicans’ social media team has no intention of backing down in the slightest.
New Orleans hits back at Stephen A. Smith without fail
Not even an hour passed when the Pelicans’ official X (formerly Twitter) handle clapped back at Stephen A. Smith’s 10-minute-long rant. The post shows a chat box with three messages, of which the first one has been edited to include “watching”; a direct dig at Smith’s long response to their earlier troll video.

Despite Smith saying that he doesn’t care, nor is he affected, the comment section is overflowing with responses that state otherwise. A few even took advantage of Smith’s remark about his injury to bring up past instances of him putting Kawhi Leonard and Paul George under scrutiny for their missed game-time and seasons. The X users cannot be faulted either.
