Last Sunday, the Golden State Warriors played against the Minnesota Timberwolves. During the match, Stephen Curry sustained an injury to his right knee. Due to soreness, Curry did not attend the second match-up against the Timberwolves. He is also set to miss Thursday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.

On Wednesday, it was announced that Curry had undergone an MRI to determine the extent of the injury. The results from the examination did not reveal any structural damage. Now, we have more information on when he would return to the hardwood.

Stanford Sports Medicine Surgeon, Dr. Seth Sherman, explained that a positive result does not point at the absence of the injury. He added, “You can damage some of the soft tissue structures. You can get bruising or minor strains of the muscles and tendons or sprain of the ligaments.

Sherman also added that, with the green bill, the hard work for recovery begins now. Stephen Curry will be focused on working with the team physicians and training staff to get him back into game shape. He shared a look into their day-to-day injury checklist, which would include getting back the strength and into a range of motion. Their primary requirement now would be to reduce the swelling and do functional movements. The importance of this checklist is to ensure that the player is one hundred percent ready, with no risk of flaring up the same injury again.

Dr. Seth predicted that Stephen Curry could return to playing sooner rather than later. But he also added that taking his time to fully recuperate is crucial to not be in this situation again.
