Despite putting in a peak effort, the San Antonio Spurs fell short by four points against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday (December 13). The Spurs have one more opportunity on December 16th to not only defeat the Lakers but also to break their 18-game losing streak at the Frost Bank Center. Despite their optimistic start in the first few games, the Spurs now find themselves with the Western Conference’s longest losing streak, cursed with a 3-20 record.

Despite the team’s struggles, Spurs rookie Victor Wembanyama remains confident and is averaging 19.3 points per game and grabbing 10.7 rebounds.

LeBron James (Left Calf; Contusion) and Anthony Davis (Left Adductor/Hip Spasm) are listed as “Questionable” at the time of writing this. Taurean Prince is also questionable, and Gibe Vincent is out due to a left knee injury. D’Angelo Russell, Cam Reddish, and off-the-bench player Austin Reaves are all available to play.

Charles Bassey from the bench is the only player listed on the injury report for the Spurs. The starting big five, consisting of Wembanyama, Devin Vassell, Keldon Johnson, Jeremy Sochan, and Malaki Branham, will all be available to play.

The game will tip off at 8 p.m. ET and will be aired on ESPN, CW35, and SportsNet LA.

Can Wemby stop the losing tide for Spurs?

The Lakers are playing solid basketball. After coming off winning the In-Season tournament cup, they are holding the fifth position with a 15-10 record. LeBron James missed the last game against the Spurs where Anthony Davis stepped up and scored 37 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. His performance was mind-blowing, especially because he played through a nagging hip injury sustained in the first game of their Texas trip. But if he and LeBron do not play in the next match-up, who really can stop wemby?
