September will be a prestigious month for basketball and soccer gaming enthusiasts. On September 8, NBA 2k24 is going to be released. Then on September 29, EA Sports FC 24 will be up too. These back-to-back releases will pave the way for great entertainment before the NBA season begins. In this context, the ratings of different players become the hottest topic of conversation.

The hot topic in both NBA and soccer communities is who is the Greatest of All Time(GOAT). In soccer, it is usually between Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi. In the NBA, it is between Michael Jordan and LeBron James. Therefore, it is always interesting to compare how Messi is rated in FC 24 and how LeBron James is rated in 2K.

It becomes even more interesting because of Messi’s decision to join Inter Miami during the offseason. Now that he is also a part of the USA sporting scene, things have spiced up further. Both of these athletes have achieved a huge milestone now. They have been rated 90+ in their respective sports by the leading gaming forces for 20 years and counting now.

As pointed out by many, the threshold for ratings is different in both sports. EA Sports FC 24 capped the highest rating at 91, whereas in the NBA 2K24, the ratings can go high as 96. In that regard, both sporting personalities are rated pretty much the same.

Messi is tied with Mbappe, de Bruyne, Lewandoski, and Benzema, all hovering in the 90-91 range.

In terms of the “Skills” category, no one is ranked higher than Messi, who has an astounding rating of 93. In contrast, Ronaldo found himself slipping to 87, way behind Messi, in terms of ratings-based ranking.

Unlike Messi, LeBron James wasn’t at the top of the list. 2K devs gave Nikola Jokic the highest rating at 98.

James remains at the top

Despite being below Jokic, the amazing Forward remains a class apart from more than 99% of the league. There has never been an athlete that is rated as high as him at his age of 38. From the NBA 2K12 to 2K15, he saw a 98-99 rating, being at the top.
