LeBron James is in his 21st NBA season. Regardless of being the oldest active player in the league, James is continuously defying expectations, setting a benchmark for generations to come. He is showcasing a level of prowess rarely seen in the league at his age. This season, even though his scoring averages are less than last year, James is not only displaying increased defensive efforts but also demonstrating improved three-point efficiency.

LeBron James is now making records instead of breaking them

Having shattered the NBA scoring record last year, LeBron James is now creating records of his own in the history books. In the recent Los Angeles Lakers‘ showdown against the Utah Jazz, James achieved a milestone no player had reached before–he became the first-ever player to breach the 39,000-point mark in the history of the NBA.

However, James isn’t just about scoring; he’s rewriting the records in multiple facets of the game this season. Recently, he surpassed Clyde Drexler, claiming the eighth spot on the all-time steals list. Furthermore, he is also the first and only player to record a triple-double in his 21st season.

Fans tip their hat to James

In the wake of the historic achievement, fans could not contain their excitement for the 38-year-old. Anticipating more seasons of brilliance to come, they took to Twitter to express their admiration for the King.

As a result, the age-old LeBron James vs. Michael Jordan debate resurfaced almost immediately. @yaboybryanp2go boldly proclaimed that James surpassing the points chart solidifies his superiority over MJ.

Echoing similar sentiments, another fan weighed in while rhetorically questioning whether there is still a discussion to consider; especially after all the stats and LeBron’s exceptional longevity.

While the fan debates found their place to rage on, @dangitnathan took a simpler route. The fan expressed pure joy at witnessing LeBron break records while wearing purple and gold. They wrote, “im so blessed to watch him break all these records as a lakers.”

Meanwhile, @Esko_esk injected a touch of cleverness for their remark. They shared a Dwyane Wade GIF in the comments, likely alluding to Wade’s statement on LeBron James being naturally gifted by god.

Finally, proudly showcasing their superstar, the Lakers’ X handle, along with the post, highlighted the exact moment James etched himself in NBA history.

In the current season, James is maintaining an impressive average of nearly 26 points per game. With around 67 games left in the Lakers’ season (excluding their ongoing matchup with the Jazz), even if he plays the majority of them, James could easily rack up an additional 1500 points.
