There are very few players in the NBA who have shown loyalty to one club. Staying with one franchise for the entirety of a career says a lot about the player and the franchise. However, we don’t have as many examples to put out in current times. Arguably the most celebrated legend of just one club in recent times is the late great Kobe Bryant, who spent all his time with the LA Lakers. Other than that, we have some examples in the current time as well.

Klay Thompson is one such athlete in the NBA. He has spent 12 years with the Golden State Warriors. While there were rumors of him finally switching sides, the 33-year-old recently shut down all the noise with a bold statement.

Klay Thompson has no interest in a trade

Thompson along with Stephen Curry and Draymond Green are three pillars of the Warriors. These three have been with the club since their beginning in the league. Considering how rare it is to find such loyalty in the league today, what the Warriors have been able to accomplish with these athletes is nothing short of remarkable. While Thompson and Green are 33 years old, Curry is 35 and even though they’re inching toward the end of their career, loyalty to their club is still at the top of the priority list. Recently, there were rumors about Thompson’s name regarding a potential trade.

However, one-half of the Splash Brothers decided to let the truth out in the world. Thompson said, “I wouldn?t want to go anywhere else. To play for one franchise, that?s so rare in any sport.? It?s some real legendary stuff.” Additionally, he believes that he has contributed heavily in building the Warriors franchise. “I was here before banners were hung up. So in a way, it?s our baby,” Thompson added. His sentiments are absolutely valid as he was a major part of clinching 4 titles in 8 years.

So for now, the rumors will fade away as the 4x NBA champion has made it clear, he’ll be staying in Dub Nation.

What prompted the rumors?

The 5x All-Star is down to his last season with the Warriors as per his contract. This prompted assumptions flowing in from every direction, which led to the transfer rumors. Although Thompson has reached his last season and will surely get an extension, the other two Warriors are secured till 2026, at least.
