Stephen Curry has started hitting the gym early this season, and that too with the Warriors’ new nemesis. However, during a recent interview, former Cavaliers player, Iman Shumpert, revisited a pivotal moment from his NBA career. It involves a young and skinny Curry. Shumpert, who once shared the court with LeBron James, recalled an intriguing incident involving none other than Stephen Curry.

This incident occurred during his first season in the league, back when he was playing for the New York Knicks. At that time, Curry had only been in the league for a couple of seasons, and the Golden State Warriors were facing off against the Knicks in a road game.

Shumpert expressed a sense of regret tied to this moment. He admitted, “One of my biggest regrets, and Steph, you would’ve been a light-skinned man either way ? that was destined for you. But I feel like when you came to the TD Garden, I let Raymond Felton’s pride get in the way, and he had 50.

In the same game, Curry ended up scoring 54 against the Knicks.

Reflecting on that pivotal moment, Shumpert revealed his foresight into Curry’s potential. He said, “[When] I switched on him, I immediately poked the ball away. Let’s get to this dude; stop letting this dude do this before he really be doing this to us”.

Shumpert’s instinctive reaction to Curry’s game is a testament to his basketball acumen and awareness of Curry’s growing confidence.
