The Kobe Bryant stories never get old in the world of basketball. Arguably one of the greatest to ever grace this game, Kobe has left a lasting impact on the sport. Much like every other great athlete, there are disciples who try to follow in their footsteps. As for the case of the Black Mamba, Kyrie Irving is that disciple among many others.
Irving’s love for the late legend knows no limits, and recently he showcased his own version of the iconic “Mamba Moment”. Currently in Abu Dhabi, the 31-year-old recreated one of Kobe’s most iconic moments against Creed actor Michael B. Jordan.

There are millions of people across the globe who are inspired by Kobe’s greatness. While the number is too many to count, Irving boasts a unique achievement that isn’t known to many. The 8x All-Star had a very special relationship with the LA Lakers legend. In fact, Kobe once went on record to say that Irving is the person he’s closest to in the league.
Much like his own story, Kobe admired Michael Jordan and then went on to chase his idol in his quest to be great. Kobe had admitted that he sees something special in Irving.
Living up to the praises of his hero, the Dallas Mavericks star showed up for a challenge. After B. Jordan extended a free throw challenge, Irving was quick to respond to it. Although, strangely, he used his left hand to shoot, which is similar to what Kobe had done in the past. Once the 5x NBA champion had torn his rotator cuff, forcing him to stay out of the game. But being the mentality monster he was known for, Kobe refused to let that injury stop him and proceeded to continue with his left hand.
