The Minnesota Timberwolves faced the Golden State Warriors in the NBA in-season tournament last night. The first two minutes of the match saw an unruly eruption among players. A brawl erupted suddenly, leading to the ejection of Draymond Green, Klay Thompson, and Jaden McDaniels. All this happened without a point being scored. What exactly led to this?
Warriors’ star Thompson and Wolves forward, McDaniels, were seen pulling each other’s shirts in transition. Thompson started this and McDaniels dragged it further. After that, Rudy Gobert entered the scene to pull back Thompson. Green interrupted him and grabbed his arms around Gobert’s throat for a chokehold that lasted for seconds. While Thompson and McDaniels were ejected on the basis of double technicals, Green got a flagrant 2 foul. Gobert was not ejected, as he was the victim himself. But that did not stop the French from getting fined after the match.

Rudy Gobert is furious at his getting fined, where he was the victim himself of Green’s chokehold. Green reportedly got banned for 5 matches and Thompson, McDaniels, and Gobert were fined $25000. The French called it a personal attack against him and aims to appeal the decision. In an X post by the Wolves’ beat writer Chris Hine, Gobert’s statements are available.

Gobert said, “You know every situation is different, but to me, that was more than just a reaction. That was a personal attack.” He further added, “Me being fined when I chose to, when I was being a peacemaker and I chose to keep my hands up while I was being assaulted, is shameful. Shameful. Am I’m gonna appeal that fine.”
Rudy Gobert mocks Draymond Green’s “clown behavior”
After the match, Gobert took a dig at Green. With Klay Thompson out for the brawl, the big man Green could have stepped up for the Steph Curry-less Warriors. His getting involved in the fight worsened the situation for the Dub Nation. They ended up losing the match as a result. Gobert then mocked Green for his “clown behavior”.

Gobert said, “Every time Steph doesn’t play, he doesn’t want to play without his guy Steph so he does anything he can to get ejected.”?This really is a serious accusation. Furthermore, Gobert added that from the moment he heard that Steph Curry was out due to a knee sprain, he knew that Green would try to eject himself. He is evidently not happy with the decision of the NBA officials.
The Timberwolves went on to win the match 101-104. Gobert playing in the center scored only 9 points, with 13 rebounds, and 2 assists. Is the incident going to charge the Timberwolves, especially Rudy Gobert? How are they going to perform in the coming days?
