Ja Morant, the Memphis Grizzlies controversial guard. We all know he is currently serving a 25-game, no-pay suspension. Morant was the Grizzlies’ Hail Mary when they drafted him. Humble, giant heart, honest, hard worker – there weren’t enough adjectives to describe the rookie. Everyone in Memphis had only the best things to say about Ja.
All of it was facts. Morant had nothing to back him up or put him in the way of an NBA career, other than his sheer determination and will. Unfortunately, that seems to be depleting into a trickle where there was a river. The most recent news surrounding him was a concern that many thought about. Never did they say it out loud until now.

Ja’s father, Tee Morant, has been a constant in the court since the beginning. To have a doting father come to every game is a blessing. We can assume that’s the case here too. Sadly, not everyone thinks so and pointing out instances of the same is kind of hard to refute.
The allegation that Tee is the “driving force” behind Morant Jr.’s no-care-for-the-future actions has taken root pretty fast. But Ja is with his father on this one. He posted a story with the caption, “Keep LIVIN the dream OG. this hoopin shii started wit you, i just continued it.” The image shows him getting ready to throw the ball and his father sitting behind, with a big smile.
The allegation comes with evidence of the father-son duo living the life wherever the team went. The pair were often seen visiting the not-so-reputable establishments wherever they went. A team source had pointed out plainly that Tee is living the life of an “NBA superstar” because he couldn’t make it to the league. And when he got the chance, he took it. (credits: ESPN)
Whether the father-son duo knew there would be consequences for their actions or they simply didn’t care is debatable. For now, let’s take a look at how far Ja has come since his 2019 draft.

June 20, 2019, saw the Grizzlies fill their point guard’s position with a young Ja Morant. With only one pick left for the team, they immediately latched onto the 6’3 rookie out of Murray State. The Grizzlies were in rebuilding mode and everything they heard about Ja; they loved.
From there, it was an uphill drive for Ja and the Grizzlies. the 2019-20 season saw Ja named the NBA Rookie of the Year. In 2021, the Grizzlies became the Western Conference’s 8th seed beating the Warriors. The year 2022 saw Ja awarded the NBA’s Most Improved Player, the first Grizzlies player in league history to win both rookie and MIP awards.

So far, great. He even managed to get a supermax extension, after which Ja’s downfall began. The rest we know. What you sow, you reap. That’s the only explanation we can give right now.
