Behemoth expectations were stapled onto the San Antonio Spurs after they drafted Victor Wembanyam. Wemby, who is a generational prospect, was meant to be the transformative entity for the storied organization. He follows the footsteps of international greats such as Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. However, finding a similar degree of success in his very first season was unreal expectations to believe in in the first place. That doesn’t mean there are no improvements at all.
At the beginning of the season, Wembanyama looked flustered. His offense was indecisive and reckless. Likewise, the Spurs sunk to the bottom of the pile. That has remained unchanged, except Wemby is starting to take over the keys with a lot more assertion. Over the last ten games, the Spurs have won 3 games. The mark is appalling, but considering they had won only five games prior to the stretch, it’s a sign of times changing.
Over that period, Victor Wembanayma has tackled every hurdle and improved exponentially. He averages 24.1 points with much-improved efficiency. Now, he faces his biggest test as a new-age center – going up against the reigning MVP Joel Embiid. Will he take part in the daunting match-up?

Victor Wembanyama is available
Dealing with Wembanyama has been stressful as of late for the Spurs organization. From the moment he suffered an ankle sprain on December 23, the front office has walked on eggshells. The ‘alien’ has been on minutes restrictions and is prohibited from playing back-to-back games as of yet. “He’s been working on his body and he has got a minutes restriction and is not allowed to play back-to-backs right now. It will probably change very soon but for now, we have to abide by that restriction,” said Gregg Popovich when he announced the 7’4″ starlet wouldn’t take part in their game against the Charlotte Hornets.
Luckily for NBA fans, Victor Wembanyama has had an ideal rest since the game against the Washington Wizards. He is not on the injury report for the Spurs and will most likely take part in the contest. However, the organization will be without the services of Sidy Cissoko and Charles Bassey. Zach Collins and Dominic Barlow are both questionable.
Predicted lineup for the Spurs when facing the Philadelphia 76ers
A fog of anticipation lies ahead of the contest between the Sixers and the Spurs. Where the future clashes against the present, the Spurs will look for Victor Wembanyama to shine through. They will most likely line up with Tre Jones, Devin Vassell, Victor Wembanyama, Julian Champagnie, and Jeremy Sochan, the same five that they used in the latest win against the Wizards.

On the other hand, the Sixers are established Eastern Conference powerhouses. Joel Embiid is having a monstrous offensive season. Since returning from his absence, he has scored over 30 points in each of his four games. Additionally, Tyrese Maxey is having the most prolific season of his life which has contributed to the Sixers being better than they were with James Harden. They will start the game with Tyrese Maxey, Kelly Oubre Jr., Tobias Harris, Nicolas Batum, and Joel Embiid.
