The Phoenix Suns are going head-to-head against the San Antonio Spurs. And it looks like Victor Wembanyama will get his second win over his idol, Kevin Durant, tonight. The Spurs blew out the Suns in the first period, taking a massive 25-point lead with 8:29 left in the first half. KD managed to cut the deficit by 5 points, and the half ended with a score of 75-55 in favor of the Spurs.

The Phoenix Suns’ shocking first-half performance against the young Spurs squad has raised several questions about their future. Former NBA Champion Channing Frye exposed the Suns? massive problem after watching 19-year-old Victor Wembanyama dominate Kevin Durant.

While the 19-year-old Victor Wembanyama scored a dominant 20 points in the first half, Durant only managed to put 13 points on the board. That led to the Spurs going down by as much as 25 points in the first half. After watching Kevin Durant and Co. get dominated by the Spurs, former NBA Champion Channing Frye exposed the Phoenix Suns? big problem despite having three of the most lethal scorers in their squad. “We need to stay afloat because the West is a monster, but also, are we going to run KD into the ground before these guys get there.” Frye believes the Suns are putting too much pressure on Kevin Durant to carry the load of the entire team.

Even though Durant has played great so far this season, the constant load of being the primary scorer will take a toll on the 35-year-old?s health in the long run. KD got some support tonight as Devin Booker made his return after missing three games. But even Booker could not stop Wembanyama from dominating the Slim Reaper in the first half.

Bradley Beal?s role will decide the Phoenix Suns? future

Channing Frye also emphasized that Bradley Beal?s role in the squad will play a massive role in the Suns? success. Beal is yet to make his debut for the Suns, and Frye wants Beal to take a backseat as KD and Booker run the show. Frye compared Beal?s role with Jrue Holiday in Milwaukee. Holiday was the third option in Milwaukee and made a lot of sacrifices to win the Championship in 2021. Beal has been the primary scorer throughout his career, and he will have to accept his role of being the third option in Phoenix.

The Phoenix Suns also need a dynamic rim roller who can screen, roll, block shots, and take some load off KD?s shoulders. If the Phoenix Suns want to win the Championship this season, they will have to distribute the load among their role players and get them easy shots while Beal, KD, and Booker do their thing on the court.
