Houston Rockets’ Dillon Brooks wouldn’t have imagined that when Drake dropped his latest album, “For All The Dogs,” he’d catch flak from the rapper. Tonight, the Rockets defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers 117-103. But guess who didn’t come out as a champion? Five-time Grammy winner, Drake. The crowd roared “go home” after Drake seemingly dissed Brooks.
The internet dubbed it a “Canadian on Canadian fire” since it’s a Drake album, and there’s usually a Canadian reference. However, it’s worth noting that Drake has a special relationship with Houston, Texas. His old man hails from there.

Despite the Houston connection, Drake wasn’t too warmly welcomed when he showed up at the Toyota Center in Houston. He appeared unfazed, but what exactly was the “diss” that offended the Rockets’ fans? It was the lyrics that said, “Shawty ran some Dillon Brooks, can’t believe this n***a talkin, damn.”

According to rap explainer Genius, the drama might stem from a past interview. Apparently, during the FIBA World Cup, ESPN conducted a “Canadian loyalty test” by asking Team Canada to choose between Drake and Ryan Reynolds. Everyone picked Drake, except Dillon Brooks. This “friendly fire” might explain the diss, but some speculate it’s a payback for Brooks’ trash talk towards LeBron James in the 2023 playoffs. The truth, as always with hip-hop, is shrouded in a bit of mystery.

Yet, the controversy and rumors surrounding the issue bring Brooks under the limelight, especially his performance on the bigger stage.
Brooks Balls Out On International Stage!
Dillon Brooks shone brightly during the FIBA World Cup. He averaged 15.1 points per game, shooting a staggering 59.4% overall and an even better 58.8% from three! Brooks peak performance came against Team USA, where he dropped a massive 39 points (including 7 three-pointers!), 5 assists, and 4 rebounds. Brooks was also awarded the FIBA World Cup Best Defensive Player award. In tonight’s showdown with the Cavs, Brooks chipped in 12 points, 3 rebounds, and 2 assists while teammate Jalen Green led the Rockets with 26 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 assists. The Rockets take on the Washington Wizards next. Drake might want to consider a disguise if he shows up, unless he wishes to be told to “go home!” once again.
