Veteran guard Ricky Rubio joined the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2021 following a trade from the Minnesota Timberwolves. Rubio averaged 13.1 points and 6.6 assists in his first season with the Cavs. That led to him signing a three-year $18.5 million extension in the summer of 2022. However, Rubio shocked the NBA world by announcing his retirement just one year into his new contract. Rubio and the Cavs agreed to a contract buyout, and the 33-year-old reportedly left $5.4 million on the table to ramp up his retirement.
