Washington Wizards played against Charlotte Hornets recently in the preseason game and the commentators picked on a topic many may be familiar with. Drew Gooden, the Wizards’ analyst, briefly mentioned the NBA 2K series. He gave his suggestion for the best shooting stroke to use for MyCareer mode.

“For all of you 2K players out there, one of the best bases for the created [player’s] jump shot is the JT Thor base,” he said. And when asked about the shooting stroke he used, his reply was “Kobe Bryant’s shot”

Bleacher Report posted the clip to their Instagram. And it looks like Kevin Durant had something to say about it. The Phoenix Suns’ forward reposted it to his story with a caption, “Real sh*t”, giving his approval for the shot. As an avid player of the game himself, Durant must really know what’s best in it. But did you know he doesn’t play as himself?

During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon in 2014, Kevin Durant shared that although he’d been playing the game for more than 15 years, he did not play as himself because “that’s kinda arrogant”. So who does he play as? Both entities have had a long and close relationship. In the same interview, Kevin mentioned that all summer long, he and his friends get together to play the game in a league-like setup. He admitted that things can get a little intense as they’ve gone through many controllers and even broken computers.

He featured on the cover of the game three times, in 2013, 2015, and 2017. In 2020, they took their relationship further by signing a long-term partnership. This meant that he would work with 2K Sports on the “game development and creative” side of the NBA 2K series.

And the NBA fan community is now eagerly waiting to see how the three will strike a good on-court harmony to win the championship.
