After losing to the Boston Celtics in the conference semifinals, the Philadelphia 76ers did not make any big changes to their roster this offseason. The team was looking to trade away James Harden but that deal ended up falling through before both teams could come to an understanding. However, the team did add one crucial piece to their roster who was deprived of $48 million by Michael Jordan?s former team.

The Philadelphia 76ers may have gotten the better end of this deal, signing this player who had a 20 PPG last season. And that too to a minimum deal, yet he is not sour and is ready to take stand out with Joel Embiid and the rest.

The 76ers signed Kelly Oubre Jr. to a one year/ $2.8 million deal. Oubre Jr. had a spectacular season with the Charlotte Hornets despite the team?s losing record. He finished the season with 20 PPG, 5.2 RPG, 1.1 APG, on a true shooting percentage of 53.4%.

It was odd for Oubre to take a veteran minimum after having a career high in scoring this past season. But according to Austin Krell of ESPN?s 97.3 FM, he feels he has to rehabilitate his value in the market a bit.?

In fact, he is ready to take on the league and go to war. Showing no signs of entitlement or resentment, Oubre Jr. plans on standing out from the rest of his new teammates with his play on the court.

A brilliant move by the 76ers front office

Adding Kelly Oubre Jr. to the roster may have been a masterstroke by the Philadelphia 76ers? front office. There is no doubt in the fact that there are some sour feelings between James Harden and the team?s front office.

Things only took a turn for the worse when Harden?s trade request did not go through. So, there is no telling as to how Harden will be performing this upcoming season. And having a backup for Harden?s position is just smart thinking.
