Atlanta Hawks Superstar Trae Young is considered one of the biggest villains in New York City. His villain arc began in the 2021 NBA playoffs when the Atlanta Hawks faced the New York Knicks in the first round. With the Knicks fans shouting profanities at the 2-time All-Star, Trae hit a game-winning floater with just 1 second remaining on the clock. The whole arena went silent as Trae Young shushed the crowd, “It’s quiet as f**k in here.” Trae beat the New York Knicks in 5 games and sent them packing with a final bow at the Garden.
Trae Young returned to the city of New York this weekend, but this time, it was not to put a dagger in the hearts of Knicks fans.

New York is not the first city to deem Trae Young as the villain. Before he even joined the NBA, the shooting maestro was considered “Overrated” by many, because he gained popularity at a very young age. Fans could be seen chanting slurs and taunting the young guard during his matches. Trae was never bothered by the hate and spotlight. He thrived in a hateful environment. In a viral 2020 clip from Ballislife, Ice Trae dropped 42 points, including the game-winner, and bowed down to his haters in the stands.
Trae repeated the same gesture when he ended the hopes of the New York Knicks fans in 2021. After hitting a dagger three in Game 5 of the first-round matchup, Trae took a bow as the arena went quiet. NBA legend Reggie Miller proudly said, “You are in the Garden, you might as well take a bow.”
