Remember Scoot Henderson‘s showcase game against Victor Wembanyama in October 2022? Scoot led his G League Ignite past the most hyped prospect in the 2023 draft, Wemby’s Metropolitans 92. It turns out that his 28 points, nine assists, and five rebounds not only secured his team a victory but also managed to impress a $9.62 billion sportswear giant. So much so that the brand decided to take a major bet on the 17-year-old by signing him to a sneaker deal. Now, one year later, everything seems to have worked out for both parties since that wager paid off when the Portland Trail Blazers picked Henderson as the third overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
As a result of the sneaker deal, rookie Scoot Henderson has now joined the elite list of athletes, including LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O’Neal, as one of the ten players to have their signature shoe in their rookie year.

The leading footwear behemoth, Puma, recently unveiled Henderson’s first signature basketball shoe called the Scoot Zeros. The Puma Scoot Zeros in the “Georgia Peach” colorway are slated to make their retail debut on December 15 and will be sold for $100. When the rookie unicorn set his foot on the NBA stage for the first time in October, rocking his signature shoe at his debut game, he became the seventh player to do so. Remarkably, he is also the tenth player to have a signature shoe just in his rookie year.
The Puma Scoot Zeros are here — marking an historic rookie signature shoe debut for Scoot Henderson.
“The first thing was I wanted the shoe to be really fast and to look aggressive,” said @thereal013.

The list includes some of the greatest players in the history of basketball, including LeBron James, Michael Jordan, and Shaquille O’Neal. This is very telling of Henderson’s skills to have his name alongside the best in the sport. The Scoot Zeros feature a “high-rebound” Profoam EVA in their midsole, coupled with a reinforced Formstrip to enhance durability. The shoe also includes Jaws rubber “wrap-ups,” extending from the outsole and seemingly biting off the shoe’s upper. A smaller Formstrip appears on the medial heel to match the tiny one on the heel pull with a Puma logo. To round it all off, an ‘S’ logo in black sits on the tongue of the shoes.

The Scoot Zeros perfectly captures the essence of Scoot’s personality and playing style. The shoes give off an in-motion effect similar to Scoot’s end-to-end speed in transition. This feature is further magnified by the jagged lines that run throughout the shoe. That’s not it; symbolism runs deep in the creation of these particular shoes. The title of the shoe itself is symbolic. As per Scoot himself, the “Zeros” allude to new beginnings and serve as a constant reminder that each day produces a unique opportunity to “reset, learn, create, embrace, and overcome”.

The Marietta native has also used this opportunity to pay homage to his native land, Georgia. Hence, the Georgia peach colorway. In addition to the peace shade, the sneaker also includes a darker salmon base, a light pink outsole, and green accents throughout, reminiscent of a peach tree’s leaves.
