The Golden State Warriors are tasting success on their catchup run on the season, and most of it was sparked by Draymond Green. Initially, as the Warriors struggled with efficiency issues around their stars, Green’s antics paved a struggling way for the franchise. However, ever since his indefinite return for swinging at Phoenix Suns‘ Jusuf Nurkic, Green has taken the court with a different mindset. With that, he has returned to his leading ways, orchestrating on the floor and gluing the team in the locker room.

When talking about Green’s recent rise, Steve Kerr commanded the veteran’s aggressive, mindset and approach. Noticing the fine details in Green’s intensity on the court, Kerr resumed, “And then of course his ability to walk the line and not cross it.”

Green’s journey has been season-altering for the Warriors. During his initial 5-game suspension, Draymond Green staunchly backed his ways, claiming to maintain his aggressive demeanor and tactics on the court. Even during the dramatic indefinite suspension, Green stood on the offense, hinting at announcing his retirement. However, a pivotal juncture came as Adam Silver intervened, helping and persuading Green to continue playing. Subsequently, as Green was cleared to play, Steve Kerr encouraged Green to be his authentic self on the court.

Draymond Green has also helped the Warriors spark their offense

Green’s effect on the Warriors’ defense is automatic. He is usually the loudest on the floor, mocking the opposition and keeping his teammates in check of the game. However, Green’s presence, in some ways, has also helped them bolster their offense.

After playing his initial games post-suspension, the Warriors interim coach grazed over the idea of Green’s value on offense. Sure, Green handles and dimes brilliantly for the Warriors during set plays. However, he has also revitalized the flow of their offense. Since taking up the center position for the squad, he has skyrocketed their pace, allowing the Warriors to take more shots per game. Moreover, he makes use of the chemistry he developed with Steph over the last 12 years, allowing and finding open shooters on the floor.
