The Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, won the Super Bowl on February 11th and Mahomes has been trending all over the internet as he was labeled the MVP but that’s not the only reason he’s trending. Remember Sky Sports’ most famous NBA moment, when Formula One reporter Martin Brundle confused the Orlando Magic player Paolo Banchero for Patrick Mahomes in 2022? Well, the Magic haven’t forgotten! Amidst the Mahomes frenzy, the Orlando Magic are reminding everyone of a hilarious 2022 F1 moment involving their rising star, Paolo Banchero, and F1 reporter, Martin Brundle.

In a funny turn of events, the Orlando Magic tweeted  side-by-side photos of both encounters of veteran reporter Brundle, titled “Back 2 Back,” with a playful “congrats Patrick” on each, check out the tweet here:

Paolo, just about 21 years old right now, has been making all sorts of waves in and around the league. With All-Star season starting this Friday, he’ll not only be participating in his first All-Star game but also returning to the Rising Stars Challenge after winning it last year with Team Pau Gasol. Drafted second overall by Tamika Catchings, he’ll be joining Keyonte George of the Utah Jazz and Scoot Henderson of the Portland Trail Blazers, amongst others.

Future MVP- Paolo Banchero?

As the number one pick for the Orlando Magic in the 2022 draft, rookie Paolo Banchero already grabbed headlines by becoming the first player since LeBron James to debut with a game-high 27 points. Though Orlando lost to Detroit with a score of 109-113, Paolo caught everyone’s attention with an 11-for-18 shooting performance, 3-for-7 free throws, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 2 blocks, and 4 turnovers.

Now in his 2nd season at the NBA, Paolo has been averaging 22.8 points, 6.9 rebounds, and 5.2 assists per game, placing him among the elite group of only 13 players averaging over 20+ points, 5+ rebounds, and 5+ assists per game.

While Pat Mahomes, is making history with his unbelievable achievements, his doppelganger (as per Brundle) isn’t too far behind. Paolo seems like he was built in an All-Star factory with his impressive stats, including 6 games with 30+ points and 2 with 40+ points. He was instrumental in Orlando’s 12-win improvement last season, and the team is on track to exceed their previous season’s total of 34 wins.
