All summer long, Tyler Herro was involved in trade rumors as the Miami Heat were looking to bring Damian Lillard into the team. It seemed like Herro was one of the key baits that the team would use as part of the exchange with the Portland Trailblazers. Now, however, we know that wasn?t the case. The former Trailblazers point guard has now moved to Milwaukee Bucks. And Herro still remains with the team that picked him as the No. 13 overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.?

As the regular season fast approaches, the 23-year-old shooting guard got real and shared his thoughts on everything that happened over the course of the off-season.?

Tyler spoke to Ira Winderman about the potential trade and the eventual snub saying, ?I’m glad Portland didn’t want me. I just don’t want to be in Portland. So it’s not personal with Portland at all.? It looks like he didn?t take it too hard and has since moved on.?

He also admitted that he is well aware of the fan?s thoughts about him. ?My value maybe has decreased in people’s eyes but I’m a better player than I was last year, so there’s no way my value has decreased.??

The reason for people?s doubts could be based on the fact that Herro?s performance had an abrupt end due to a hand injury during Game 1 of the Heat?s first-round series against the Bucks. He averaged 20.1 points with 5.4 rebounds and 4.2 assists across 67 games. But his run was cut short and he couldn?t play in the crucial finals where the Heat eventually lost to Denver.

What will the next season look like?

Despite the previous disappointing streak of unfortunate events, Herro is now eagerly looking forward to overturning his luck. He admitted that he wanted to become an untouchable player for the team. ?Honestly, my goal this year is to get my name untouchable. That?s my goal,? Herro said. ?At the end of this season, they won?t want to trade me. That?s my goal.? As he enters the fifth year playing for the team, everyone is curious to see how his performance would be in order to match up to this high goal of his.?

From the team perspective, the Heat are definitely title contenders from the Eastern Conference this season. Yes, they do not have Lillard. And they may have lost some key players too. Like, Gabe Vincent to the Los Angeles Lakers and Max Strus to the Cleveland Cavaliers. But they have an impressive core of Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo. With a fit and powered-up Herro added to the mix, it seems like the crown is not far from their grasp.
