Nostalgia Hits LeBron James Hard, Ignites Memories of Duquesne’s New Coach Dru Joyce III

LeBron James was a superstar even before entering the league. The Cavs recruited him in 2003 as the #1 pick only with his high school performances. Years passed and James superseded the expectations and turned to be the scoring champion of the league. Moreover, it wasn’t just him who impressed the hoops community from his high school team, one of them was Dru Joyce III.

Joyce was known for his shooting prowess from the perimeter. The 39-year-old also has a cherished game from the past, where he dropped 7 of 7 buckets from the arc. Tonight, the Los Angeles Lakers superstar reminisced about the guard’s scintillating performance from the past and expressed his awe. On account of Joyce’s latest role as the head coach of Duquesne University’s men’s basketball, an X handle shared the highlights of the game. James reshared the post and wrote, “One of the GREATEST Performances I’ve ever been apart of in my life! WOW!! @DruOnDemand” 

Who is Dru Joyce III? Is he still friends with LeBron James?

Joyce III is one of the stars of the St. Vincent-St. Mary’s high school basketball team that rocked the US hoops community. While James turned out to be an NBA superstar, Joyce played college basketball and moved to Europe to play professional basketball at EWE Baskets Oldenburg for 12 years.

He later became the associate head coach of the Duquesne Dukes in 2o22. After a year, he has now taken over the Dukes’ office as the head office. Even after an illustrious career far away from the Lakers superstar, he remained friends with him. Last year, James reunited with his high school teammates on a red carpet-event for the release of the documentary, Shooting Stars.
