Damian Lillard finally had the sigh of relief after months of toil. The former Portland Trail Blazers had been taking all the blows ever since he announced his wish to trade. Eventually, the Milwaukee Bucks put an end to his misery by roping in Lillard. However, a recent report suggested that the 8x NBA All-Star was not really adamant about his exit from the Blazers team. Moreover, when he wished to revoke his trade request, the team’s GM gave out a shocking reply.
Lillard hinted at his exit from the Blazers side since his team’s exit from 2023 playoffs. The media made a fuss about the star’s presence in the courtside for a couple of games. While he remained unfazed by the noise, he opened up in July. Dame showed interest in the Miami Heat. Unfortunately, even months after that, he couldn’t attract a contract until the Bucks pitched in.

Over the last few months, the media created a narrative that Damian Lillard was adamant about his trade request. However, as per Bleacher Report, the scenario seems to be entirely different. In July, Lillard requested the front office to trade him to the Heat. On the other hand, the Blazers didn’t make any dialogue with the team. Which left the All-Star with no other option, other than rescinding his request.
Meanwhile, the Blazers general manager Joe Cronin left a sour response. According to BR, Cronin said, “No coming back,” to Dame. This in turn left Lillard with no other option left other than finding a way out. While speaking to BR after the trade, he said, “How this summer played out behind the scenes definitely left a sour taste in my mouth.”
