The Los Angeles Clippers wreaked havoc during the 2013-14 NBA season. Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and DeAndre Jordan formed an excellent trio and brought lob city prime to the city of Los Angeles. However, a dark controversy took away all the limelight from their brilliant performances on the court. Former Clippers owner Donald Sterling was in the midst of a fiery controversy after a leaked tape of his conversation went viral all across the world.

In a recent podcast, Bleacher Report writer and former Clippers employee Mo Dakhil made a huge claim. Talking about the Sterling Mania, Dakhil revealed that the team knew it all!

Former Clippers employee reveals players like Chris Paul knew about Sterling

Donald Sterling, a Los Angeles billionaire, had a fiery conversation with his then-mistress over the phone. During their conversation, the billionaire made some shocking racist claims.

“It bothers me a lot that you want to promote, broadcast that you’re associating with black people. Do you have to?” said Sterling as per ESPN. Shockingly, he made this shocking remark after his girlfriend had posted a picture with Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson.

This sent the whole sporting world into a frenzy. Mo Dakhil revealed that the Clippers were on their way to San Francisco for Game 3 of the 2014 playoffs against the Golden State Warriors. This was a few days prior to when the tape was leaked. 

Talking on the Oddball podcast, Dakhil talked about the time he was on the team flight for this game. According to him, Sterling showed up for that game. Interestingly, he hadn’t been in any road games the entire season.

“All of a sudden, all the coaches start running to the back. Donald Sterling has randomly shown up, he hasn’t been on one road game entire season, shows up for that one”, he further added.

Dakhil then goes on to explain how he sat face-to-face with Sterling. While talking about the moment he realized Sterling was on the flight, Dakhil made an eye-opening revelation. He said, “We all knew about Donald Sterling at that point in time.”

It seems like Chris Paul, Blake Griffin, and others knew all about the Sterling tape. Despite all the controversy, the Clippers beat the Warriors 4-3. Their playoff run marred with controversy ended against the Oklahoma City Thunder led by Kevin Durant.

The Sterling tapes took the league by storm. Naturally, the NBA superstars were shocked and wanted Adam Silver to take action. “There’s no room for that in our game”, said LeBron James.

Warriors veteran Andre Iguodala asked the league to reschedule the games until they take action against Sterling. The billionaire was ultimately banned for life from the league and also fined $2.5 million.
