Steve Kerr offered his condolences to Bob Knight’s family after the legendary coach’s passing, “First of all, condolences to his family… He was just a brilliant coach. Dominant coach at the time and obviously incredibly controversial.” After his comment on Coach Knight’s passing, Kerr made a shocking remark about the three-time National Champion, “I don’t think he’d last five minutes today, but in his era, he was effective.” Bob Knight had a 43-year-long head coaching career that included coaching the army, the Indiana Hoosiers, and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.

But Knight retired from coaching in 2008, and the game has evolved a lot in 15 years. Even though Steve Kerr’s comment seems disrespectful, there might be some truth to it. Bob Knight’s coaching style was very successful in the 1900s and early 2000s. But with analytics coming into the picture and players and coaches evolving with time, the game has changed a lot, and the old tactics are hardly ever used in today’s game. Kerr is one of the most successful head coaches of this era, and he knows how to win a Championship.
